Supa Talents: Building Teamwork Beyond the Office

Supa Talents: Building Teamwork Beyond the Office

Supa Loaf employees are proving that teamwork does not end at the office. Through Supa Talents, an employee-led football initiative, staff members are using sport to strengthen wellness, unity, friendship and brand pride across the organisation.

What began around June 2025 as an informal office football group known as Corporate Walkers FC has steadily grown into a structured platform for employee engagement. The initiative was first introduced by Edwin Malembi, with the aim of bringing colleagues together through football, fitness and shared belonging.

In its early stages, team members personally contributed towards field charges and other basic arrangements. The group would meet at least twice monthly, creating an informal space where employees from different departments could interact beyond job titles, office routines and departmental boundaries.

As the initiative continued to grow, the team evolved from Corporate Walkers FC to Supa Talents. The new name reflects a stronger connection to the Supa Loaf identity and represents unity, inclusivity, pride and positive brand representation.

Leadership support has also played an important role in motivating the team. The involvement and encouragement of senior leaders, including Mr. Wasim Manji and Mr. Ismail Hussein, has helped strengthen morale and reinforce the value of employee-led wellness and team-building initiatives.

A major milestone for the team was the successful organisation of the Supa Buddies Tournament, held at Komarock Sports Arena, Nairobi, on 13th December 2025. The tournament brought together four Supa Loaf teams, including three from Nairobi and one from Naivasha. After a spirited competition, the Naivasha team emerged as the overall winner.

Beyond the excitement of football, the tournament created a meaningful platform for employee interaction, healthy competition and brand pride. With Supa Loaf products awarded as prizes and spectators present, the event also provided a positive opportunity for brand visibility in an engaging and memorable way.

Supa Talents continues to contribute to the company in several ways, including enhanced teamwork, stronger interdepartmental bonding, improved employee wellness, better workplace relationships, a positive company culture and stronger brand representation.

The initiative has also created a sense of belonging among employees. Team reflections highlighted common themes such as collaboration, commitment, learning, growth and unity. Members shared that the team has helped them interact with colleagues they would not normally meet, keep fit, build friendships and represent Supa Loaf with pride.

Currently, 21 active contributors have been recognised for their consistent participation and continued support of the Supa Talents journey.

As the team looks ahead, Supa Talents stands as a reminder that investing in people goes beyond the workplace. Through football, employees are building stronger relationships, healthier lifestyles and a more connected organisational culture.

Supa Talents is more than a football team. It is a celebration of wellness, teamwork, unity and the Supa Loaf family spirit.
