Mini Group is seeking to recruit a proactive and experienced Senior Accountant to oversee the accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective inventory accounting, and strong financial controls to support operational decision-making.
Eleven Degrees Consulting Limited is a shared-service firm under the Mini Group of Companies, offering specialized recruitment and HR solutions to organizations across various industries.
Position Summary
Reporting to the General Manager, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the business’s accounting operations, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and maintaining robust controls over sales, stock, and supplier transactions. The role involves supervising a team of Accountants and Assistant Accountants while maintaining close collaboration with Procurement, Warehouse, and Retail operations.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
a) Financial Accounting & Reporting

Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and oversee month-end and year-end closing processes.

Ensure timely reconciliation of bank accounts, supplier accounts, and balance sheet items.

Support the preparation of management accounts and financial performance reports.
b) Inventory & Cost Management

Oversee inventory accounting, including stock valuation and reconciliation between accounting and warehouse systems.

Monitor Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and gross margin performance.

Coordinate and supervise periodic stock counts and investigate variances.
c) Accounts Receivable & Payable Oversight

Supervise accounts receivable processes, including debtor monitoring and collections.

Oversee accounts payable to ensure timely and accurate supplier payments.

Maintain accurate reconciliation of both customer and supplier accounts.
d) Taxation & Statutory Compliance

Ensure accurate preparation and submission of statutory tax returns (VAT, PAYE, and withholding tax).

Support corporate tax preparation and maintain compliance with all statutory requirements.

Liaise with auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies as required.
e) Financial Controls & Team Leadership

Implement and monitor internal controls for retail sales, cash management, and inventory handling.

Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and analyze performance against approved forecasts.

Provide training, guidance, and performance oversight to the finance team.
Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

CPA (K), ACCA, or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.

Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior role within wholesale/retail or a large corporate environment.

Proven experience in payroll processing, statutory compliance (PAYE, NSSF, NHIF), and financial reporting.

Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and POS integration.

Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP standards and local tax regulations.

Advanced analytical ability, high accuracy, and excellent leadership skills.
