On behalf of Generic Brands Limited we are seeking to recruit a commercially strong Key Account Manager . Generic Brands Ltd is expanding its Modern Trade team and is seeking to recruit multiple Key Account Managers to manage and grow MT portfolios across key product categories (Food & Pantry, Personal Care, Home Care, and Health & Wellness). The role will drive category performance through strong customer partnerships, commercial negotiations, disciplined execution, and data-led planning to grow revenue, protect margins, and improve product availability across retail partners.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Key Account Manager will own end-to-end commercial performance for assigned accounts and/or categories—covering account strategy, joint business planning, assortment, pricing, promotions, claims governance, and in-store execution. The role will work closely with Sales Team Leaders/merchandising teams to close execution gaps in-store, ensure disciplined order planning, reduce returns/wastage, and maintain strong compliance on commercial terms and documentation.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

a) Key Account Strategy & Joint Business Planning
Develop and execute account plans aligned to growth targets; lead structured customer engagements (reviews, forecasts, targets, and actions); identify opportunities for distribution expansion, visibility improvement, and category growth within each account.

b) Commercial Negotiation & Trade Terms Management
Negotiate and manage commercial agreements, including listings, pricing, rebates, promotions, and visibility/space commitments; ensure all trade terms are documented and approved before implementation; coordinate with Finance on any approved changes to commercial terms and ensure proper governance on claims and rebates.

c) Assortment, Pricing & Promotions Management
Drive assortment planning and SKU performance reviews; recommend SKU additions/deletions based on performance; plan and execute promotions with clear objectives, mechanics, and expected outcomes; monitor promo effectiveness and optimise future activity based on results.

d) Sales Execution & Merchandising Leadership
Coordinate execution with Sales Team Leaders and merchandisers to ensure product availability, planogram/visibility compliance, correct pricing on shelf, and disciplined FIFO/expiry management; identify execution gaps and drive corrective action to protect sales and reduce wastage/returns.

e) Order Planning, Service Levels & Returns Control
Ensure accurate and timely order capture aligned to customer demand and supply planning; coordinate with Warehouse/Logistics on fulfilment performance; track GRNs and delivery discrepancies and ensure timely resolution; monitor returns trends and implement preventive controls to reduce damages, errors, and avoidable returns.

f) Reporting, Analytics & Market Intelligence
Prepare periodic performance reports on sales, margin, distribution, returns, and execution; provide actionable insights and recommendations; track competitor activity, pricing, and promotions, and advise on response strategies to protect market share and profitability.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5–8 years’ experience in FMCG sales with proven Modern Trade/key account management exposure.
  • Demonstrated capability in commercial negotiations with major retail chains and managing customer relationships at senior levels.
  • Strong trade marketing and execution understanding (visibility, merchandising discipline, and retail compliance).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret account performance and translate insights into actions that improve revenue and margin.
