On behalf of an internal client, we are seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced Machine Operator to manage the avocado oil extraction process, operate machinery safely, and maintain high-quality production standards. The role involves setup, calibration, operation, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and adherence to safety and hygiene protocols.

Position Summary

The Machine Operator will oversee day-to-day operations of machinery used in avocado oil extraction. Responsibilities include setup and calibration, monitoring production output, quality control, preventive maintenance, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Setup & Calibration

• Set up and adjust machine settings, controls, and parameters according to production requirements.
• Ensure all components (filters, press plates, collection containers) are correctly installed and safety shields are in place.
• Perform routine calibration and checks on presses, centrifuges, and decanters.

Machine Operation

• Operate machinery to produce high-quality avocado oil.
• Monitor the entire extraction process from pulp preparation to final oil collection.
• Adjust feeding mechanisms to ensure smooth operation and optimal yield.

Troubleshooting & Maintenance

• Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions promptly.
• Conduct minor repairs and report major issues to maintenance.
• Ensure minimal downtime and continuous production flow.

Production Efficiency & Quality Control

• Monitor output, equipment efficiency, and oil quality parameters (purity, moisture content, color, viscosity).
• Identify and address deviations from quality standards and SOPs.
• Assist in root cause analysis of production defects and prevent contamination.

Safety & Sanitation

• Follow safety procedures and conduct daily inspections.
• Maintain hygiene and sanitation standards for machinery and work areas.
• Adhere to HACCP, GMP, and other safety guidelines.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain production logs, calibration records, and quality reports.
• Track performance metrics, maintenance activities, and deviations.

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with production team members and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow.
• Assist in training new operators to meet operational standards.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
• Occupational Trade Tests III/II/I for Machine Operators from a recognized institution.
• First-Aid Certificate (minimum 1 week).
• At least 3 years’ experience operating machinery in food processing or manufacturing.
• Experience with avocado oil extraction machinery is an advantage.
• Knowledge of safety regulations for machinery and food processing.
